How many lines of symmetry a polygon with s sides HAS/HAVE?

Hi EnglishForward!

This is not a math question. (The answer is s by the way) hahah

I read something about the usage of has and have in questions here.

But this is an official test question. (its not an English exam so grammatical errors are tolerable hhaha)

So I thought it was more to it than what I read.

How many lines of symmetry a polygon with s sides HAS/HAVE?

Since we are talking about it, the polygon, it would be safe to assume that the right one to use is HAS.

In past questions I saw things like

Does he have a job?

Where the do act as an agent, superseding he.

I'm sure HOW doesn't have the same effect in this question.

Am I right?

Thanks!

Hi, I'd write it this way: "How many lines of symmetry does a poligon with s sides have? " is strange in that that it gives an alternative, namely singular or plural form of the verb "have" to choose. A "polygon" is a singular noun hence the verb "has" is the only one to be in the subject - verb agreement here.
