How many frogs are (there) beside the pond?

How many frogs are beside the pond?

How many frogs are THERE beside the pond?

What is the difference between these two questions? Are they both asking the same thing? Or is there a slight nuance in meaning? HELP! Thanks in advance! =)

Is there one that's more correct than then the other?

No. The shorter one (without "there") is probably more common.
