How long will you be staying in London?

Hello, everyone.
While I was practicing a listening drill, I came across a question I could not understand.

A : How long will you be staying in London, Mr Eldson?
B :....

1. Two weeks from this Friday
2. I'm here until the end of the week.

The answer sheet pointed at only #2 option as the right, 'I'm here until the end of the week'. I understand #2 is right but I don't still understand why #1 cannot be.
A asked the period of A's staying in London to B, so I thought A could answer 'two weeks from this Friday'. But the answer sheet did not agree with it.
I believe #1 option supposes the speaker B is not staying in London right now during the occurrence of the conversation. So I speculate the question of A contains a signal to imply B is already in Lonon. Am I right? If so, what is it?

Many thanks in advance

I would tend to interpret the question to imply that Mr. Eldson is already in London, and I would say "How long are you going to be staying in London" if he were not already there, but I wouldn't rule out the possibility of using the question as written to refer to a future trip, nor my suggested version if he were already there. I too think #1 could be right also.
