  • He loves this jacket so much that he's put on weight just to be able to fit into the jacket that was once too big. He likes the shadow it gives him.
By I like the shadow it gives me I am trying to say that when he looks down at the ground and sees his shadow he likes the way the jacket looks.

He loves this jacket so much that he's put on weight so it will fit him. He likes the way it makes him look.

I wouldn't. The idiomatic way to say that is "I like the way it makes me look." or "I like the way it looks on me."
