Thank you very much, Philip. What about the handle? If it had a handle like a broom, would you still call it scrubbing brush? How do you distinguish the tool with and without a stick? With a broom, it's simple, a brush is a brush, and a brush on a stick is a broom. Is there a similar way to disambiguate a scrubbing brush?

I see a broom as a sweeping instrument, while a brush has stiffer bristles. 'Scrub' indicates a more vigorous process. This is definitely used for scrubbing rather than sweeping. Handle or no handle. In fact, I often take the handle off mine because I can scrub harder without it.

You are right, it is definitely used for scrubbing. I was just wondering if there's a distinct word for the tool on a stick, such as in German, we call it "Bürste" (brush) without a stick, and "Schrubber" (scrubber) if it comes with a long handle.

Thank you Clive. I was unsure about this very phrase when typing my post. I made this mistake before, I always fail to remember whether to use how or what.
