How is that vs how was that?

Say, me and my friend are standing in front of a sweet shop and I am standing next to my friend. I passes a Rosogoll (this is a kind of bengoli sweet) to my friend and he tastes it. So which term should I use If I want to ask him about that sweet?

1. How is that?

Or

This suggests that he has finished eating it.

However, "How is/was that?" may not be the most usual thing to say in this context. For example, "How is/was it?" may be more usual.
