How is she?

How is she?

1) She's fine/well/bad etc
2) She's tall and slim, blonde with blue eyes...

Would sentence number 2 be a correct answer to the question above? Or I am obliged to use "What does she look like?", if I want to ask about the physical aspect of a person?
I've heard answer number two in an English course on TV, but it sounds a kind of Italianism to me so, please, could any native speaker help me once again?
Thanks in advance

I take for granted the first one is correct, even though I guess the US version would probably be "How are you doing?"

I think "How is she?" is just as likely in the US as "How is she doing?" If you were inquiring about a patient's condition, for example.

It's not in US English, either. "What does she look like?" is definitely the question to produce B.

The only way I can get number two is in the context of a discussion between two people casting a part. "She's tall and slim just what we're looking for" or "She's blon

[nq:1]That seems so unlikely that I don't want to believe you.[/nq]
I swear it's true, it was a course for kids: the worst way to start, indeed..
