How far is it vs how far

I learned to use How far is it from___ to____? to talk about distance. However, I saw the following sentence:

How far is our classroom from the washroom? It’s about 30 meters.

This sentence does not follow the How far is it from___ to____? model. Is the above sentence incorrect? Honestly, it sounds right to me, but I may be wrong. Please help me with this.
