0Hi,02br 02br 01font00Why does the author use "but"? I can't see any comparison between the part before "but" and the part after "but"?02font02br 02br 00Private insurers can get lower prices from the drug manufacturers, 01i00but02i00 the drug manufacturers won't give lower prices to the government
0Why does the author think that "drug manufacturers won't give lower prices to the government"? I think the drugs are sold to patients, not to the government (It is not the government who buy the drugs.).02br 02br 00Thank you a lot.0-
0Hi,02br 02br 00I just help people with English, not with understanding the US Govt.'s medical policies. 05002br 02br 00Perhaps the govt. pays for drugs for particular groups of people, eg seniors, war veterans? I don't know.02br 02br 00Best wishes, Clive010id2
0 There are public hospitals in the US, which would need to buy medicines to use. Also, I doubt that any drugs manufacturer anywhere in the world very often deals directly with patients (and never with prescription medicines) - drugs always go through a pharmacy/druggist/shop/doctor/hospital etc etc. Even if the patient buys them in the end, the place they get them from has to buy them first.
0Yes, the U.S. federal government buys drugs as part of their public funding of medical care through the Medicare and Medicaid programs, as well as things like veterans' hospitals, etc.. It's far too complicated to explain in a forum meant for English. And the government has not tried very hard to get reduced pricing on the drugs. Also far too complicated to explain in this forum.0-
