How does it sound?

I'm translating a text about nomads. Can you correct the things that sound odd to you, please?

"Oeloon felt as if that day was the continuation of the holiday. But in the evening, when they stopped for an overnight stay and Chiledu told her to make dinner, at once, in a flash, she realized the profound change in her life, she understood that she had left her native nutug - the place where her tribe roamed - neither for a day, nor for two days, but forever. She felt so miserable that, fogetting about cooking dinner, she sat down on the ground, covered her face with her ??hands and cried bitterly. Chiledu blinked his eyes in astonishment, bent over her, ran his palm over her head, and said nothing. She didn’t give vent to tears, wiped her eyes with the lap of her gown and started to kindle a fire. But the sickness at heart didn’t go away. Her carefree life was over. Now she must cook meals, sew clothes, saddle a horse for her husband, drive the wagon when roaming..."
