How do you use hitchhike?

Hi,

Are the sentences I made with "hitchhike" correct?

There is a hitchhiker.
He is hitchhiking.
He wants to hitchhike a ride.
He wants to hitchhike to XXX town.
He was poor and hitchhiked a lot when he travelled.
Sometimes he hitchhiked to car, sometimes he hitchhiked to a truck, and sometimes he hitchhiked to an ORV.
Now he has a car, so he can hitchhike other people who need hitchhiking.

Thanks very much.
