But we don't say "What do you think that I am ?"
We say "What do you think I am ?"
So "How do you suggest that I should approach her" seems wrong, doesn't it ?

Hi,

But we don't say "What do you think that I am ?"

We say "What do you think I am ?"

Both are correct, although the latter is more commonly said.

So "How do you suggest that I should approach her" seems wrong, doesn't it ? Seems fine to me.

Try googling "How do you suggest that" and look at some of he examples you'll find.
