How do you say this? Maybe with a proper expression?
Hopefully you'll understand.. I want to say in a book review that xxx is what pushes the story forward, but I want a more elegant and correct formulation. English is not my first language so I don't know all english expressions and such.. it would be very nice if someone could help me out =) TIA Ana
