how do you read mph





Bald is more aerodynamic, allowing for a +1 mph in mobility. I guess we can take solace in knowing that characters aren't " Olympic Swimmer 'Bald'

Actually, I would say it fully as "Miles Per Hour" (the speed - we hopeless Americans can't think in metric). It's not often that I hear "em pee aitch."

miles per hour...that´s what I´ve always heard.

Likewise in BrE and kph - kilometres per hour.

In theory anyway, but in reality in Britain everyone still talks about mph! We are supposed to be metric these days but old habits die hard. Our road speed signs and so on are still only in mph, for example.

Very true but when we do use kph on holiday or as ex-pats we do read it as kilometres per hour.

And very often in spoken AE, the 'per' is replaced by 'an'.
