"How do you pronounce..."

When someone online asks "how do you pronounce XXX", I often see replies saying that XXX is pronounced as (a clearly wrong and nonsensical word). And it's usually the same nonsense word, which I obviously can't remember. Exactly what is this word, and where did it come from? Is there some literary source for it?
