How do you do Nice to meet you

Hello. I learnt years ago that I should use 'How do you do' the first time I meet someone, then I can use 'Nice to meet you'. But in another thread, it is said that the common way nowadays is 'Nice to meet you', all the times. So, 'How do you do' is nowadays old fashioned?

" was already becoming old-fashioned quite a few years ago. Nevertheless, when meeting a new boss, or someone of high social status, I still use it, which is to say, hardly ever!
