How do you call people who are reluctant to spend money?

Dear All,

How do you call this character trait? So I mean people who are always watching there money, not willing to spend money, always looking for cheap ways out, reluctant to buy a beer for one another in a bar, etc. And all this while they actually are wealthy enough. We got a (a couple of) word(s) for it in my language. I'd love to hear an english word or sentence for this. Perhaps you could also provide me with a couple more alternatives to put this.

Thanks in advance!
