How do we say about a product that is overdue

hi,
for instance tinned fish... How do we say that it is overdue.
Can we say that it is "outdated".. Or "after best before" or" past best before" or "past its sell-by date"?
Which of these can be used?

I'd say the shelf life has expired. I believe there's a better expression, but I can't think of it at the moment.

I see nothing forced nor contrived in Avangi's response, but I do see a bit of rudeness in your comment about it. I would offer "the expiration date has passed."
