How do say it's dark, but slightly illuminated?

How do say it's dark, but slightly illuminated? For example, in the following sentence i tried my best to express this, but I feel it's good, there should a better ways to say this. May be, a better wording.

It's dark, but slightly illuminated by the sunlight, which is getting into the room through few small holes in the roof.
