How do I use 'take the risk of' in a sentence?

should I use 'she goes to the store and takes the risk of late for class'
or 'she goes to the store and takes the risk of taking the class late'

is there any other way I can express the meaning better without my grammar sounding rusty?

Neither of those works. You can say: She goes to the store and risks being late for class. Every sentence must begin with a capital letter.
