Thank you very much but Shouldn't it be 'Said to myself' instead of 'said myself' ?

"Saying myself" is not acceptable if the speaker is the recipient of the action, in which case you need to add "to" to make it grammatical: "saying to myself." Another possibility (without using "to") is "telling myself":

Over the past six hours I've been telling myself that I'll start work in a few minutes.

Is this your intended meaning?

Or you could say "I've been telling myself for six hours that I would start work in a few minutes."

You are right. I made a mistake when rewriting it, leaving out "to"
