How do I rephrase this sentence?

How do I rephrase the following without using the negative limitation?

"...an extension member being selectively lockable in an extension opening between a fully retracted position and a fully extended position without telescoping within truss frame members..."

Thanks

I don't think it's possible, but I'm going to check with my dog. I believe you'd have to avoid the gerund "telescoping" if you wish to avoid the negative. Is that acceptable?

  • " Shouldn't we also simplify it?

Thanks for some great suggestions.

The main issue is that the extension member telescopes between the two positions without moving within the truss frame members - this is a benefit over an old structure. I wanted to try and describe it in the positive.

You're saying that the entire unit locks within the truss frame, but the telescoping member, which is only part of that unit, is free to telescope?

Your original gave me the impression that the objective was to prevent telescoping.

If telescoping is good, let me know, and I'll have another shot at it.

Yes, telescoping is good but not within the truss frame.

Thanks again.
