How different is ‘Get out of here?” from ‘You are kidding!’?

I was surprised to know ‘Get out of here!’ means ‘You’re kidding!’. Can the former phrase be used in the same way as the latter one?

Top answer

Yes, but not when it is a literal command for someone to leave, of course. The tone of voice is different. CJ
