How did you find me? (Formal)

I have received an email from a recruiter. He represents his company and the job opportunities. I would like to know how he has found my name and reference. How can I write that in a formal way?

Are you displeased with the fact that he's found you? And if so, do you want to convey your displeasure? Any suggestions are contingent on the tone and voice that you want to put into your letter.
