How could I make this more formal?

The following sentences will be used for my slow climb on the corporate greasy pole. Could anyone please take a look at the and make some correction so that the language is a bit more formal and 'corporate'? Thank you so much.
"I understand that the operational budget for our services maybe reduced in the future in view of the global realignment of resources allocation. Although we may only have very limited influence to reduce the impact of the decrease in grant for our services in the long term, I realised that we may be able to cut the cost of acquiring the new books by bringing down the number of lost items through the systematic recovery of overdue books."
