How can you make the a gerund refer to a person?

How can you make the a gerund refer to a person?

I cannot explain what I mean exactly but I can show example:

It can happen without doing anything.

Who is expected to perform the "doing" here? Is it it or it's I? or maybe they?

Well now can I do something like this:

It can happen without us doing anything.

or

It can happen without our doing anything. // This doesn't sound okay to me but still I want to see your opinion

?
