How can I using of distinguish between another and other?

Dear all,

I have some sentence which is not understanding.
For example, "you saying that you have got a much higher tolerence of alchole than other person". And "you saying that you have got a much higher tolerence of alchole than another person"

I have been confusing which one is correct and how do I understand between another and other?

You saying that you have got a much higher tolerance of alcohol than (as compared to) this other person. (a particular individual who has previously been mentioned.)
