How can I understand this sentence?

This is an excerpt from a book:
"Overlapping with this distinction is that between its use as a first language, the primary language of the speaker, and an additional language."

Could you tell me, please?

"that" means "the distinction". The sentence is also inverted, so the meaning is:

The distinction between its use as a first language [...] and an additional language is overlapping with this distinction.
