How can I understand this sentence?

This is an excerpt from a newspaper:
"School officials see the camera as a way to improve student confidence and crowdsource the task of catching misbehaving pupils."

I can't find out how to understand this part:"crowdsource the task of catching misbehaving pupils."

Crowdsource = having many many different inputs or observations or contributions, usually by people logged on to a web site with the data to be analyzed or a project to be completed. The task here is identifying those students who are acting badly. I interpret this as the schools have lots of cameras and they put the images online.
