How can i say the result the someone mistake in front of the class

I was in a class,and i was being a counter, means i have to count every mistake that my friends make like aaa word when they did speech in front..

So after that i had to report that in front of the class.. and whenever i mention or report someone mistake (aaa word) when they were speech i said “you were saying aa word fot 3 times”.. is that wrong? I don’t know the correct way... and sorry for my bad english maybe you could correct my question too haha

"i" is the 9th letter of the alphabet. It does not refer to a person.
