Hello,
I am trying to say that some activity is running without one's control and that is bad.
The dictionary says the word "neglect" is a candidate for it.
For example: given some workers are doing construction work in my friend's house. I want to say that my friend should not let them do this without his control.
"You should not neglect control over the construction work in your house" ?
Another example: I want to say that my friend should control how his children are raised.
"You shouldn't neglect upbringing of your children".
In Russian there is a good phrase for this, it is "puskat' na samotek" which literally means "let it flow as it is", "let it go as it goes" or something like that. I want to find some analogue in English.
Dmitry Moscow "puskat' na samotek" which literally means "let it flow as it is", The closest expression I can think of is "let nature take its course". Of course, you can't use that in your examples.

Your friend should not give the workers free rein.
He also should not leave his children's upbringing to chance.
