How can I join 3 indep. clauses?

Hi,

How do I join/punctuate 3 independent clauses? Is it acceptable to just use a comma?

35% of respondents do the majority of their grocery shopping at A, 25% shop at B the most, and 50% said they prefer shopping at several different supermarkets.

Is the connection between sentence 1 and 2 considered a comma splice?

Thanks,

Derek

Anonymous s the connection between sentence 1 and 2 considered a comma splice? No. You have created a list composed of 3 independent clauses, and you have punctuated it correctly, with 'and' before the last item in the list.

Suppose X Y and Z are independent clauses. Combine them this way:

X, Y and Z.

Instead of "and", you can use any coordinating conjunction:

I know this isn't a math class, but you might want to check your numbers.
