Current Situation

Regarded as one of the newest centers for ecotourism in Minas Gerais State, Carrancas stands for the countless attractions such as waterfalls, rock formations, observatories, canyons, trails and beautiful landscapes of savannah. However, after researching the current scenario, I, as the researcher (for/of) the Tourist Office, have to admit that some ideas must be implemented, in order to improve the amenities in town and boost the town´s economy, attracting not only local but also foreign visitors.

Recommendations

Initially, I propose that some weekly tourist workshops should be conducted with local people in town, so they will be able to see in the ecotourism an opportunity to make a living and better the quality of life of their families. There are also some specific areas that should receive special attention from the local authorities.

In an attempt to preserve the natural landscapes that surround our town, some lands should be protected as wildlife reserve, protecting the flora and fauna (rare species can be seen in the region), under the supervision of biologists who can guide the tourists to the most remote spots.

An ecological fee must be collected from every tourist, local or foreign, due to the fact that it is extremely important to maintain the structure provided for receiving them. Under no circumstances should visitors take any flower, animal or samples from the nature, but pictures only.????

Cantina delle Ragazze, Bexiga.

A tasteful immersion in the traditional Italian cuisine.

I honestly was always interested in seeing the Italian neighbourhood in Sao Paulo, where old houses were converted into Italian Canteens. I had the privilege to go to Cantina Delle Ragazze: a cosy, simple and colourful restaurant located in a very charming street. Had I known that the experience would be so great, I would never be at home on Sundays. I was accompanied by my girlfriend and a couple of friends who were also searching for a new dining out experience.

The place is very traditional and nice. An exhilarating place for those who like fuzarca; a traditional Italian music followed by live wailing sirens whose noise is not a struggle, on the contrary, it is quite funny. Curiously, there is a stuffed rooster at the entrance which screams occasionally. Indeed, it gives a peculiar impression in the place.

However, we have encountered a problem. Despite the valuable service provided by highly skilled waiters, we had to join the queue line for the toilets, which was in my opinion extremely unpleasant. Luckily, a young lady could solve the disturbance swiftly, guiding the customers with patience and politeness.

The menu is so great that makes you feel like being somewhere in Italy. At first, we settled on sharing a pair of appetizers such as the insalata di lenticchie, a delightful and extremely interesting lentil salad seasoned with curry, fennel and lemon, a combination that wouldn't have occurred to me but was quite good. The meat was delicious, extremely tender, with mouth-watering creamed spinach, simple and tasty.

The wine list is very competent; congratulating the Cantinetta Antinori features all of Antinori's wines, and is thus an excellent place to taste by the glass. The prices are reasonable. Actually, depending upon what you eat, expect to spend between 50 and 80 reais per person (or more if you order a rare vintage). All in all, given the atmosphere, this is more than reasonable. Highly recommended.
