how are you or how you are

Hi dear teachers,

Which is correct, "how you are"? Or "How you are"? Also, does my using proceed further sound natural to you, please?

- First you tell me how you are and then we will proceed further.
- First you tell me how are you and then we will proceed further.

Thank you.

I am pretty sure that "how you are" is the right one because, if there is no question, there is no need of inversion. For me it does sound natural, but I may be wrong.

The direct question is: "How are you?

The indirect question is: First (you) tell me how you are.

Laborious- First you tell me how you are and then we will proceed further.
The indirect question (a noun clause which is the object of ask, tell, etc.) does not employ the subject-verb inversion pattern.
