Bungled and botched are synonyms, and can be used interchangeably. If I were describing incompetence or poor workmanship I would be more likely to use botched , and if I were describing a flaw in planning or a misunderstanding of the problem that led to an unsatisfactory outcome I would be more likely to use bungled , but either one could be used in either case to indicate that the result was not satisfactory.
