The most immediately obvious difference is that "freedom" is a far more common word. "freeness" almost looks like a made-up word to me.

Although I agree that 'freeness' does not spring quickly to mind, I have heard it applied to non-human activity. In forestry, freeness would apply to the space for trees to grow and flourish. Some artistic expression involves freeness from categorising. The freeness of natural water makes a location ideal for a cabin. Is it just me?
