how and why

Could you tell me if "how" and "why" can be switched in the sentence below.(The meaning of the sentences would be different from each other but it's ok as long as they are grammatically correct...)

#1 I would often visit Kanda - famous book streets with my father. That is how I started to collect old books.

#2 I would often visit Kanda - famous book streets with my father. That is why I started to collect old books.
