how about you?

I think it's kind of silly question, but I'll give it a shot to know these expression's accurate meanings.

HOW ABOUT YOU? VS WHAT ABOUT YOU?

what is difference between them?

when someone want to know other person's opinion, how can they ask?

what about you? how about you?

could you help me out?

I think either one would be understood, and I think I have probably used both at times, but I prefer "How about you?" in that context.
