Grammar

houses to live in

(a) Due to the typhoon, a great number of people lost their houses to live in.
(b) Due to the typhoon, a great number of people lost houses to live in.
(c) Due to the typhoon, a great number of people lost a house to live in.

I'm pretty sure there's no problem with (a), but what about (b) and (c)? Are they still acceptable? Beside, is there any better sentence to express this idea?

Thank you so much indeed, Mister Micawber, Teechr.
Now I'm a little confused because (a) is "the correct answer" for a question in a study guide. Of couse, I trust your answers, though.
I wrote a sentence using the "a house to live in" strucutre. Is this sentence okay?

After the terrible typhoon, a great number of people are having a hard time looking for a house to live in.

Shouldn't it be "because of" and not "due to"? Due To means attributable to.

seagull(a) Due to the typhoon, a great number of people lost their houses to live in.
Houses are for living in, so, "to live in" is superfluous.
