Hot VS Spicy

People around me use “spicy” when they want to describe food has the flavor of pepper and chilies, and “hot” when they want to describe food with high temperature.

For examples
In KFC, the stuff will ask you if you want spicy chicken (with chili powder) or original chicken.
People might say the chilies are spicy or *the curry noodles are spicy.*

I think the correct word choice should be “hot” if they want to express the flavor of pepper and chilies.

Do you want your chicken hot or original?
*Red chilies are hot.*
*Curry noodles are hot.*
*Add more chilies to make it hotter.*

I am not sure if the word spicy can use in that way, as everybody here uses the word that way.
Could you tell me which one is the correct word choice?
Great Thanks in Advance.

'Spicy' can and is certainly used that way. In addition, a very common negoitated communication between native speakers runs like this: A: This dish is hot! Z: Do you mean spicy-hot or temperature-hot?

Thank you. If I'm in America, I want to say something has the flavor of chilies, or pepper. Can I say like these?

1. Do you want your chicken hot or original? (In KFC)
2. Red chilies are hot.
3. Curry noodles are hot.
4. Add more chilies to make it hotter.

Great Thanks in Advance.

Those are all fine except that I would be nonplussed if you used 'original'.

Thank you very much for the detail explanation. I still have three questions. Could you explain them to me?

Q1. Can I use “spicy-hot” to clarify which “hot” I mean when the situation requires to prevent misunderstanding?
For example, Not only is the curry noodles boiling hot, it is also spicy-hot.

Q2. Spicy means that the food has very strong flavor because of spices.
