Horse laugh

What is a horse laugh?

Top answer

A horse laugh is a loud (and usually obnoxious) laugh which includes the sound caused by a rapid intake of air through the nose while the tongue (somewhat involuntarily) closes off the air passages to the mouth -- similar to a snoring sound -- sometimes called a snorting sound. It sounds like some of the sounds that horses make. Actually it's also somewhat like the grunting of pigs.

Hmmm, that's not pretty. When is one likely to use it?......don't answer that, I'm just kidding. Sorry, can't help it. This thread makes me laugh. Horse laugh, I can think of a few friends that laugh like that.
