Hope you "wouldn't" mind

I hope you wouldn't mind me asking your name.

Is the sentence above grammatically correct? I was wondering whether I should use "won't mind" instead. However, I believe "wouldn't mind" is the more common expression and politer.

Please advise or help me improve my sentence. Thanks.

I hope you don't mind my asking your name. Interestingly, don't is the more common familiar form, over won't , but I find ' I hope you wouldn't mind ' just a little odd. I can't recall whether people actually say that or not.

Thank you so much for your reply. I see don't is more common.

Additional question: Can I add 'for' after 'asking' like below? Will there be any difference if I do that.

I hope you don't mind my asking for your name.

Tweaking my original sentence, are these not acceptable?
I hope you don't mind me asking your name. OR
