Is it possible to say " I hope/think it" , "I hope/think that" when "it" and "that" indicates a sentence that is previously mentioned?

If possible in a specific context, could you make examples?

And maybe is it also possible in a specific context to say "I hope/think this" when "this" is a sentence previously mentioned?
