Hope

Hello,

1. I am hoping that you will pass the exam.

2. I hope that you pass the exam.

3. I hope that you will pass the exam.

The examples (2) and (3) are for the hopes of the future events.

Both forms the simple present and future are possible.

I am not sure of the progressive form of hope used as in (1)?

When do we use (1)?
Could any one here explain it?
Thanks.

The second and third can be expressions of good wishes from the speaker. The first is more an expression of the personal feelings of the speaker.
