Hong Kong && China

As everyone knows
Hong Kong was once a British colony,
and it's now a special administrative region in China.
(( sadly I ahve to admit that the chinese government have substantial influence on the decisions of HK government))

Anyway,
I want to know what do you guys think of HongKongese
Do you think that Hong Kong is different from China
and do you think that there's any difference between HongKongese and chinese??

I'm a local HongKongese
so I don't know how foreigners think about that.
Perheps we can have a little discussion about HongKong and China

Feel free to tell me your thought!!
Thanks!

While I do consider the people of Hong Kong to be Chinese, I also recognize that their are substantial differences between them and the rest of China. I've always thought of Hong Kong as having more of a Western influence as a result of being a British colony for so long. I haven't visited there myself (although it would be one of the first places I'd want to visit in all of Asia), but I understand that English still has a significant presence in Hong Kong, with many signs featuring both Cantonese and English.

  • Although the Chinese goverment does not seem to be fully living up to the "one country, two systems" agreement, Hong Kong still seems subtantially more free than anywhere else in China.
  • I also think that it has one of the most beautiful skylines in the world.
