Honestly/Candidly, that thought retained full possession of my mind.

Honestly/Candidly, that thought retained full possession of my mind.

First, how often do you(native speakers) use "Candidly" as compared to "Honestly in everyday English"?

Second, could you please correct my sentence?

Thanks.

Thanks, Mr. Micawber.

I'm sorry for asking again, do you mean in this instance that "retained full possession of my mind" is wrong? Or it's just sounds like an old and out-dated saying that one should avoid using it in modern English?

Thanks.

It sounds terribly stilted and awkward. I have given you what natives would normally say.
