Homogenous groups

Hello,

what do you call a group where students of the same nationality are put? Is it a homogenous group? I know what probably is the opposite of such a group, it is a multicultural group.

Thank you

I prefer "homogeneous" for that. The word is not specific for nationalities, of course. I might call them a community: "The American community at Heidelberg has always favored the open-classroom format." (I just made that up. I know nothing at all about Heidelberg.)

Hi,

The way you say it depends a lot on the situation..

For example, consider a classroom. As a teacher of a class with students from many countries, I might simply say
eg I'd like all the Koreans to come and sit here, please. And all the R

Hi,

As a matter of fact, I do. I was thinking in terms of fighting racism. Istead of putting students into homogenous groups (maybe ethnically homogenous groups?), students shoud be put into interracial groups to cooperate and share the same goals.

I've never heard of this. Does it also refer to races?

Ignore that. It's a thing from Hippie days. It has nothing to do with what we're talking about here. Classes meet in no specific place, outdoors sometimes, the teacher is at most a sort of moderator, students come and go as t

Ethnicity is not nationality. One is cultural, and the other is political. You mean "race", though, which is genetic. Yes, you have to q

Hi,

In my experience, any mention of 'race' in a classroom is best avoided. It's a potentially explosive topic.

You can put students in a classroom into groups simply by telling them by name where to sit.

Thank you Enoon. Can you, please, clearify this once again for me?

Students of different races put in one group constitue diverse group (or interracial one?)
What do you call a group in which there are students of one nationality only?
