Question

Is there an antonym for "amulet"? I'm thinking there ought to be (some sort of cursed item that you sneak into someone's luggage?) but can't for the life of me think of it. Or if you know a newsgroup that might know.

I think that in FRPGs it would be a "cursed amulet".

Create a "word map" (a specific diagram which includes a lot of things, including definition, part of speech, synonym, antonym, sentence, some other stuff, but not much). Pick some words from the list teacher gives from the current book the class is reading, fill in all the slots.

I didn't have to ask aue to decide that "amber" doesn't have an antonym. Not all the slots are always fillable. (Sensibly, that is. You can always stick something in theire and then argue it later.) It's possible that "amulet" desn't have an antonym, but I think it does and I want to find it. It also doesn't have to be something a sixth grader would be comfortable with.
I usually associate amulets with animistic religions or ancestor worship, where the item is supposed to actually do something. Sometimes it's an expression of the deity, sometimes a gateway for the spirit to enter our world from the spirit world (and presumably help us). That's all I can think of right now (that makes any sense). So a "cursed amulet" or "jinxed talisman" would be one that draws malevolent spirits to our neighborhood, making enemies stronger or us weaker.
