A student once asked me if my dog slept on my bed. My answer: no, she sleeps in my bed.

When I had a dog it slept in a kennel.

When we went on holiday abroad and couldn't take the dog due to quarantine restrictions we put her in 'boarding kennels'.

I got my dog from Battersea Dogs Home - most people know it by this name, but it does look after cats too!
