"Holiday"

Can "holiday" be used in singular in the meaning of "holidays" for students? Eg.: Our summer holiday is the best time of the year. (Though something tells me that it is impossible...)

Top answer

Yes, but it depends on where you live. Here in Canada, I usually say and hear the summer break or the summer vacation.
